Since 1985, Willis Consulting Engineers has provided professional engineering services to the New England and New York state areas. Prior engineering positions throughout the U.S. have established a broad basis for this consulting firm. Michael Willis is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer in: Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York. As a small engineering firm, every client deals directly with the licensed engineering professionals in the office.

Willis Consulting Engineers, Inc., a Vermont corporation, provides quality services in the following engineering disciplines:

Civil - Land planning and development design work including: roads and grading plans; piping; hydraulics; hydrology; drainage & stormwater management; erosion & sediment control; hydro-electric power generation evaluations; athletic field design; and pond siting, layout, and design. Designs are generated utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D software.

Environmental - Environmental Site Assessment (Phase I, II, & III). Sewer, water supply & distribution, waste water process control, and land based disposal. Agricultural waste treatment and handling design.

Geotechnical - Evaluation, use, and augmentation of soil, rock, and groundwater conditions related to the design of building foundations, bridge abutments, retaining walls, slope stability, earthen dams, engineered fills, tower (wind turbine/communications) foundations; pile designs, excavations, and roadway subbase design.

Soil Laboratory Services - Fundamental to the support of the geotechnical discipline, the on premises soils laboratory provides Willis Consulting Engineers, other design professionals, local aggregate suppliers, and contractors a quality control service and soil's properties data.

Construction Management and Observation Services - Overall construction management, resident engineering, construction observation, materials approval and change order review services. As a small firm, every client deals directly with the licensed engineering professionals in the office.

Field Exploration Services - Willis Consulting Engineers utilizes a small rubber tracked excavator to provide test pit, soild flight auger probes, and limited access shallow soil boring subsurface exploration. In-house, shallow (less than 40') trailer/skid-mounted soil boring drill rig. Subcontractors are utilized for large scale and deep depth subsurface exploration. Topographic and bathymetric survey services are also available to support design work. In-house field exploration equipment allows Willis Consulting Engineers to control field work schedule and costs, which results in on-budget and on-time projects.

Permitting Services - Willis Consulting Engineers can obtain multiple local, state, and federal permits. State of Vermont permits include but are not limited to: water & wastewater, subdivision, Act 250 wetland disturbance, stream alteration, stream crossing, stormwater discharge, general construction permits, with the ability to obtain additional permits. Federal permits include: wetlands disturbance, wetland conditional use determinations, hazardous waste site closure, with the ability to obtain additional permits.
